Going flavor crazy…

Grab a gorgeous jar, a bottle of Purus Vodka, fresh fruit and start infusing!

It’s official. The entire world has gone flavor crazy when it comes to vodka.

Not that we don’t understand why, (actually, there are a few we really don’t understand – do you want your vodka to taste like a sandwich?) but we use the philosophy that if you want flavored vodka, you start with a great vodka and find the freshest ingredients you can to create the flavor. Which is why we are constantly creating “Infusions at their Purus.”

Infusions are an incredibly simple way to create delicious vodka flavors, and the best thing

about it? Your flavor choices are basically infinite! You like bacon? There’s an infusion for that. How about Cucumber Dill Vodka? There’s an infusion for that. And who doesn’t love a little something sweet? Swedish Fish and Jolly Rancher infusions come to the rescue.

Here’s one of our favorite Purus Vodka Infusion recipes that never fails! We bring it to summer parties, fairs, festivals and good old fashioned backyard BBQ’s. The subtle sweetness of the fresh melon and refreshing mint make this the perfect libation for springtime brunches or beating the summer heat.

Multi-Melon Mint Infusion
3-Gallon Glass or Acrylic Container (with airtight lid) with spigot
6 bottles of Purus Organic Wheat Vodka
2 medium cantaloupe, cut into 2″ cubes
1 large seedless watermelon, cut into 2″ cubes
Handful of fresh mint leaves

Add cantaloupe, watermelon and mint to clean container. Pour Purus Vodka over the fruit, ensuring that the fruit is submerged.* Seal the container with an airtight lid and set on aside in cool place for a minimum of 72 hours.

Once the infusion has steeped, the infusion is ready for your martini creations! We suggest shaking a couple of ounces over ice, pouring into a chilled martini glass, and topping with a splash of something deliciously fizzy (club soda, lemon-lime soda, or make it luxurious with champagne!) Enjoy!

*Some of the fruit pieces may float – that’s okay!

Peppered Purus
Glass or Acrylic Container (with airtight lid) with spigot
1 bottle of Purus Organic Wheat Vodka
3 – 6 fresh peppers (Jalapeno or Serrano are recommended)
A sharp paring knife
A cutting board
Rubber gloves
A small strainer or colander

Put on rubber gloves*, and use a sharp paring knife to slice each pepper in half. Then, remove the seeds and discard. When the peppers have been cleaned cut them into 1/2 in. strips. Add the pepper strips the infusion jar. Add the Purus Vodka. Seal the jar with an airtight lid and allow the mixture to steep for a minimum of 72 hours in a cool place. Check the mixture’s intensity after 48 hours. You can allow the mixture to steep for more than 72 hours, but we suggest checking it daily until the desired pepper flavor is reached. If you let the mixture steep too long and it becomes too spicy, simply add a little more vodka.
Storing your Peppered Purus
Once you’ve infused your Purus Vodka you’ll need to prepare it for storage. Strain the infused vodka back into a clean, bottle (preferably, the original bottle which has been cleaned) leaving the pepper strips behind. The pepper strips can be discarded.
Keep your Peppered Purus in the refrigerator to preserve the pepper flavor for a longer period of time than storing it at room temperature.

Serve your Peppered Purus in a Sweet Fire Martini, or the perfect Bloody Mary!

*As you’re working, take care not to touch anything other than your knife and cutting board. The invisible oil that accumulates on your gloves easily transfers to anything you touch, transferring heat right along with it. Your vodka won’t be the only thing infused with peppers! Be particularly careful not to touch your face or eyes during this process.

We’d love to see the flavor-infusions you’ve come up with. Post your comments and photos!

A Toast to Earth Day

"The Good to be Green"

Simple, fresh, green.

Here at the Pure Holdings offices, we don’t take Earth Day (which is April 22, 2012 by the way) lightly. After all, Purus Organic Italian Wheat Vodka was expertly crafted with sustainability in mind. From our 100% recyclable bottle and sustainable cork closure, right down to the water-based adhesives that keep the labels on our bottles, we get it.
Earth Day is when we celebrate the craftsmanship of not just Purus Vodka, but other great products that share the same philosophy. But we’d be lying if we said we didn’t think that Earth Day isn’t also a great time for a party – better yet, why not make it an Earth Night?
We’ve tracked down some of our favorite Earth Day recipes which we’ll post on our Facebook page, but here’s one of our favorites. Not only is it simple and fresh, it’s mostly made with ingredients that are organic or eco-friendly! Take a look – we hope it inspires you to get your friends together, whip up a batch of these “Good to be Green” cocktails and throw one heck of an “Earth Night” party!

The Roaring Daisy

Did we mention that we LOVE any reason to celebrate? ImageWell in case we hadn’t, now you know. Which is why we’re ecstatic that it’s April 10th. Why you ask? Well it seems that on this day in 1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald published “The Great Gatsby” – a literary work riddled with parties and decadence. So we’re channeling our inner-Nick and Daisy for a seriously good time!

So in serious ’20s style, we celebrate today with a cocktail that would have any flapper of the day (and you too!) doing the Charleston. Take a look at how to make a cocktail we call, “The Roaring Daisy.” Enjoy!

The Roaring Daisy
Ice
1 ounce Purus Organic Wheat Vodka
1 ounce Lillet Blanc
2 1/2 ounces fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
Garnish: orange slice

Fill mixing glass halfway with ice. Add Purus Organic Wheat Vodka, Lillet Blanc, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Stir until cold. Strain into ice-filled glass. Garnish with orange slice.

Make That Expansion, A Double…

PURUS VODKA DOUBLES DISTRIBUTION

Organic Italian Wheat Vodka Expands Distribution to Illinois, Texas, North Carolina and New Mexico

ST. LOUIS, MO. (April 9, 2012):  PURUS Vodka, an organic wheat vodka imported from the Piedmont region of Italy, is expanding its distribution from four to eight states beginning later this month.  PURUS will now be available in Illinois, Texas, North Carolina and New Mexico.  The brand has been available in Missouri, Arizona, Florida, and Ohio since it was launched in 2011.

The expanded distribution is a significant step in establishing PURUS as the premier high-end organic vodka imported from Italy.  PURUS is the flagship brand of an emerging portfolio of super-premium spirits brands owned by Pure Holdings LLC, in Clayton, Mo.

“The response to PURUS Vodka this past year has been overwhelming and well beyond our expectations,” said John Giarrante, president of Pure Holdings.  “Wholesalers, retailers and consumers have contacted us from around the country and internationally, so we’re doing our best to address the demand and strategically grow the brand with wholesaler partners that provide us with the best chance for success.”

Known for its clear, droplet-shaped bottle that pays tribute to the pristine water flowing from the Italian Alps, PURUS has a light body and velvety sweetness that comes from the 100 percent organic wheat and being column distilled five times.  PURUS is crafted by the Sacchetto family in Lagnasco, Italy, using 100 percent organic wheat grown by a dedicated group of Italian artisan farmers.

Pure Holdings launched the PURUS brand with Grey Eagle Distributors, Missouri Eagle Distributors, and Krey Distributing in Missouri.  The company has signed similar agreements in each of the four new states it’s entering.

“PURUS Vodka has been an excellent addition to our portfolio of brands,” said Bob Bush, director of marketing and brand development, Grey Eagle Distributors.  “Retailers and consumer have really responded to the brand quickly.  The brand’s Italian heritage, premium positioning and clean taste really distinguish it from other vodkas.

PURUS was launched in April 2011 and has achieved a strong, loyal response from vodka drinkers in high-end restaurants, grocery and liquor stores.

In November 2011 Forbes magazine contributor Larry Olmsted referred to PURUS as “quite simply the best vodka I have ever tasted.”  The brand also received the Superb (90-95) Highest Recommendation from Wine Enthusiast magazine’s TOP 50 Spirits of 2010, and has been named “Best in Category” and received a Gold Medal at the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits competition.

PURUS is supported with print, digital and out-of-home advertising featuring the brand’s signature bottle and “Vodka at its PURUS” tagline.  The dedication and commitment to quality to the liquid in the bottle is also translated to the packaging, the bottle is 100 percent recyclable with a tree-free label and soy-based inks, water-based adhesives and a sustainable cork closure.  PURUS is available in 750ml bottles and is 40 percent alcohol by volume (80 proof).

PURUS Vodka is a brand of Pure Holdings LLC, a parent company of an emerging portfolio of premium and super-premium spirits, hand-crafted beer and wine brands. Pure Holdings is based in Clayton, Mo.
